Privacy Policy

Last Revised: January 27, 2026

1. Introduction

PDF Scanner & Editor – Tools ("we," "our," or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how our application handles your data and outlines your rights.

The core philosophy of our App is Privacy by Design. We are a utility application that processes your documents directly on your device.

Zero Data Collection Policy: We do not collect, upload, process, or store your personal documents, PDF files, or images on any external server. All document processing happens offline on your own device. We do not display advertisements or use any advertising SDKs.

2. Information Collection

A. Personal Data

We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as:

  • Names, email addresses, or phone numbers.
  • Account credentials or login information.
  • Location data (GPS or IP-based).

B. Usage Data & Analytics

We do not track your usage behavior, screen views, or interaction history within the App. We do not use any third-party analytics services like Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics.

C. Advertisements

Our App is completely ad-free. We do not integrate any advertising SDKs (such as AdMob, Facebook Ads, or any other advertising network). Your experience is never interrupted by advertisements, and no data is shared with advertising networks.

3. Permissions & Device Access

To function as a comprehensive PDF toolkit, the App requires specific system permissions. We request only what is strictly necessary for each feature.

Camera Access CAMERA

Why we need it: Required for the Document Scanner feature to capture images of physical documents directly from your camera.

What we do with it:

  • Capture images for the document scanning functionality.
  • Images are processed entirely on-device and are never uploaded to any server.
  • You can choose to deny this permission and still use all other features of the app.
Storage Access WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

Why we need it: Required on devices running Android 9 (API 29) and below to read and save PDF files to your device storage.

What we do with it:

  • Read PDF files that you select for editing or viewing.
  • Save edited or converted PDF files to your chosen location.
Internet Access INTERNET

Why we need it: Required by the Google ML Kit Document Scanner library for initial model download. This is a one-time download when you first use the scan feature.

What we do with it:

  • Download on-device machine learning models for document edge detection (via Google ML Kit).
  • We do not upload any of your documents, images, or personal data to the internet.
Photo Gallery Access READ_MEDIA_IMAGES

Why we need it: Required on Android 13+ devices to access your photo gallery for the "Image to PDF" conversion feature.

What we do with it:

  • Access images you specifically select to convert into PDF documents.
  • We only access the images you choose – we do not scan or access your entire gallery.
  • Selected images are processed entirely on-device and are never uploaded anywhere.

4. Permissions We Do NOT Request

To ensure maximum privacy, our App explicitly avoids requesting sensitive permissions that are not critical to PDF management:

  • No Microphone Access: We do not record audio.
  • No Contacts Access: We do not read your address book.
  • No Location Access: We do not track your physical location.
  • No Phone State Access: We do not access your call logs or phone number.

5. Third-Party Libraries & Services

We utilize industry-standard open-source libraries to power our features. These libraries run locally within the App environment:

  • PDFBox-Android: Apache-licensed library for PDF generation, modification, merging, splitting, and watermarking. Runs entirely offline.
  • AndroidPdfViewer: For rendering and displaying PDF documents within the app.
  • Glide: For efficient image loading and caching within the app.
  • uCrop: For image cropping functionality before conversion to PDF.
  • ZXing: For QR code generation feature. Runs entirely offline.
  • CameraX: Android Jetpack library for camera functionality in the scanning feature.

Google ML Kit Document Scanner

We use Google's ML Kit Document Scanner for enhanced document scanning. This service:

  • Downloads machine learning models to your device (requires Internet permission for initial download).
  • Processes all document scanning on-device – your documents are never sent to Google's servers for processing.
  • For more details, see Google ML Kit Documentation.

6. Data Security

Since we do not transmit your personal data or documents to the internet, your documents are as secure as your device itself. We recommend keeping your device OS updated and using device-level security (PIN/Biometrics) to protect your local data.

There is no "backend database" or "user accounts" for this App that can be breached, as we do not maintain any.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

This section is included as a standard legal requirement for all mobile applications. Our App is a general-purpose productivity tool designed for all users. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age. Since this App does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data whatsoever, compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is inherently satisfied.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Revised" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
