Welcome to Netspeed Lite. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This policy explains what data our app accesses and how it is used.

1. Data Collection & Usage

No Personal Data: We (the developer) do not collect, store, or share any personally identifiable information (PII), browsing history, or IP addresses.
Network Usage Stats: We use the Usage Access permission solely to read your device's historical network traffic logs. This processing happens 100% locally on your device.
Per-App Data Usage: We resolve installed app names and icons locally on your device to display per-app data consumption. No app list or usage data is transmitted externally.
Local Storage: Your preferences (theme, icon style, notification theme, notification priority, overlay settings such as size, opacity, color, and dynamic color thresholds, data limits) and manually tracked data counters are stored locally using Android SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device.
Advertising ID: We access the Google Advertising ID to serve personalized ads via Google AdMob. This identifier may be reset or opted out of by you at any time in your device's settings.

2. Permissions

This app requires the following permissions to function:

INTERNET: Required for the speed meter to measure active network throughput and to serve advertisements.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE & ACCESS_WIFI_STATE: Required to detect connection type (Wi-Fi/Mobile) and Wi-Fi signal strength.
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: Required by Android to read Wi-Fi signal strength (RSSI). We use this strictly for signal strength and do not collect or track your location.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE: Required to keep the speed meter running persistently in the status bar notification.
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS (Usage Access): Required to display historical data usage and to identify the currently active app for the overlay bubble display.
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW (Display Over Other Apps): Required for the optional floating overlay bubble that shows real-time network speed on top of other applications. This permission is only requested when you enable the overlay feature in Settings.
READ_PHONE_STATE / READ_BASIC_PHONE_STATE: Used solely to detect your mobile network generation (3G, 4G, 5G) for display in the overlay bubble. We do not read your phone number, call logs, or any other telephony data.
App Visibility: Required to resolve app names/icons in the Data Usage screen for installed user apps.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required to show the live speed indicator and data alerts. The app supports both default and high-priority notification channels, configurable in Settings.
BILLING: Required for in-app purchases.
AD_ID: Required for advertising.

3. Restricted Permissions Disclosure

Usage Access: Netspeed Lite uses the Usage Access permission exclusively to provide the core functionality of real-time internet speed monitoring, per-app data usage tracking, and identifying the foreground app for the overlay bubble display. This data is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or third parties.

4. Third-Party Services & Advertising

Our app uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. We use Google AdMob to serve advertisements.

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies and device identifiers (such as the Advertising ID) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this app or other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve personalized ads to you.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. For more information, please read the Google AdMob Privacy Policy.
Google Play Billing: Processes payments securely. We do not access your financial data. Privacy Policy.

5. EU User Consent (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you will be presented with a consent form upon launching the app. This form allows you to choose whether to accept personalized ads. You can change or revoke your consent choice at any time by clearing your app data or uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

6. In-App Purchases & Premium

Netspeed Lite offers optional premium features (custom icon styles, dynamic speed-based notification colors, notification themes, overlay color customization, and an ad-free experience) available through a monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Watching a rewarded ad also grants temporary premium access. Purchase status and temporary access expiry are stored locally on your device. All billing is processed securely through Google Play.

7. Overlay Bubble Feature

Netspeed Lite offers an optional floating overlay bubble that displays real-time network speed on top of other applications. Enabling this feature requires granting the "Display Over Other Apps" (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) permission. The overlay accesses network speed data processed locally and optionally identifies the foreground app using the Usage Access permission to display context-aware information. All overlay settings (size, opacity, color, position) are stored locally and never transmitted externally.

8. Notification Priority Feature

The app allows you to toggle between a default and a high-priority notification channel for the speed indicator. Enabling the high-priority option makes the notification more prominent on your device. This preference is stored locally in SharedPreferences and only affects how notifications are displayed on your device.

9. Data Retention & Security

All app data is stored locally. We use no external servers. Data sent to third-party services (AdMob/Google Play) is encrypted in transit.

10. Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal info from children.

11. Your Rights

You have full control over your local data by clearing app storage. For third-party ad data, you can opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings.

12. Disclaimer

Netspeed Lite is provided "AS IS". The data usage statistics provided by this app are estimates based on your device's internal logs and interpolation algorithms. These figures may differ from your mobile carrier's official billing records. We do not guarantee 100% accuracy and are not liable for any data overage charges incurred.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with a new "Last Updated" date within the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
